Why I named Cup o’ Pandemonium
A short origin story on how this name came together — messy, friendly, and a little caffeinated.
Names are strange little creatures. They wander around at the edges of your brain until, sometimes, they arrive fully formed.
I knew I wanted the game to be about two things at the same time: fun, friendly moments and delightful chaos. A cup of coffee felt like a perfect metaphor — warm, inviting, comfortably familiar to those of us who love the ritual of a cup of joe. The word pandemonium captures the controlled chaos: orders flying in, machines steaming, players calling across the counter while trying to keep the shop afloat.
One afternoon, I was brainstorming with pen and paper, scribbling notes and re-reading ideas throughout the day. I had my notebook open, a cup of coffee to the side, and the word "pandemonium" caught my eye. The contrast between the calm symbol of a cup and the chaotic sound of the word stuck with me — and suddenly the name felt inevitable: Cup o' Pandemonium.
It was as if everything fell into place: the concept, the tone, and the title. The game is about teamwork, imperfect moments, and the joy of making something together — even when everything is slightly on fire (metaphorically, of course).
